Victim Dies, Two in Custody After Fight In Carson City

CARSON CITY, NV - Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong has confirmed one person has died after a fight at the Stanton Arms apartments in Carson City.

A fight broke out Thursday, April 10, 2014, between several acquaintances who may have been intoxicated. Leon Arellano Pacheco, 61, was seriously hurt in the fight and flown to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, where he died.

An early report of a stabbing during the fight was unfounded, according to Furlong.

Detectives have arrested 29-year-old Alfredo Santiago and 27-year-old Ruri Santiago. Both have been charged with Battery Causing Substantial Bodily Harm. Although bail is set at $15,000 each, both have additional immigration holds placed on them for deportation proceedings following the resolution of the criminal charges.
