RENO, NV - The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the woman killed in a crash on US 395 Alternate (US395A) near Pagni Lane in Pleasant Valley Friday afternoon.
Troopers say 41-year-old Allison J. Maupin of Reno was driving her 2000 Mazda pickup northbound on US395A at a high rate of speed when she made an abrupt turn to the right. Evidence indicates she went off the road and skidded, crossing the gravel parking lot of the Pleasant Valley fire department substation, then hitting the south side of the building.
The impact collapsed a section of the building's wall and sent debris into the side of a fire truck stored inside, causing minor damage to the apparatus. There was no injury inside the building as the fire station was unmanned at the time of the impact.
Troopers say Maupin hadn't been wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was alone in the truck.
The reason for the abrupt steering movement is still being investigated at this time and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
Trooper Kris Satterwhite of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating the crash. Witnesses to the crash are encouraged to contact him at (775) 689-4682 or email@example.com regarding case number NHP-131100059.
