CARSON CITY, NV - A man from Wellington, Nevada has been identified as the lone victim in a weekend plane crash.

The Sheriff’s Office was informed of the crash at 1:55 p.m. after the wreckage was spotted by a Sheriff’s Aero Squadron pilot east of Carson City in the Pinion Hills.

Carson Sheriff’s Search and Rescue crews located the single-engine 1946 Cessna 120, and found the body of 59-year-old Joseph James Miceli.

Carson Sheriff Ken Furlong says early information suggests Miceli left from Wellington in his aircraft Saturday afternoon. Sunday, at approximately the same time as the discovery of the aircraft, Miceli was being reported missing to Lyon County authorities. It is not known at this time if Miceli ever arrived at the Carson City airport, or if he was returning to Wellington. Exact time of the crash has not been determined.

The FAA and NTSB are investigating and an autopsy will be done on Miceli's body.
