RENO, NV - Highway Patrol troopers have released the name of the woman killed in a car crash Monday afternoon.
July 14, 2014, about 2:30PM, troopers were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident that occurred on Interstate 580 southbound about two miles north of Bowers Mansion.
NHP says the investigation so far indicates 95-year-old Dorothy S. Hunter of Gardnerville was in a KIA Rio and went off the road and hit the concrete wall on the left shoulder, bounced off and went across all southbound travel lanes, hitting the concrete wall on the right.
The car then rested in two left lanes of southbound I580. Hunter was pronounced dead at the scene. She had not been wearing a seatbelt. Speed or alcohol or other drugs are not believed to be factors, according to troopers. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.
