Officers Arrest Man for Thursday's Gang-Related Shooting in Sun Valley

RENO, Nev. -- Washoe County Sheriff's officials and members of the Regional Gang Unit arrested the man they say shot a 32-year-old early Thursday morning.

The shooting happened at about 1:18am Thursday, January 17 in the 4400 block of El Rancho Drive, which is in the Sun Valley area of Sparks. The victim went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. That's when Sheriff's Deputies were called to investigate.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) teamed with the Regional Gang Unit and by Friday had identified 24-year-old Juan Manuel Sanchez as a suspect.

Officers located and arrested him in Sun Valley before midnight Friday without incident. Sanchez faces a Battery with a Deadly Weapon in the Promotion of a Criminal Gang charge and a Carrying a Concealed Weapon charge.
