FERNLEY, Nev. (AP) - A fourth-grade teacher from Fernley is joining President Barack Obama and Jill Biden in Washington, D.C., as they honor the nation's top educators.
Deanna LeBlanc of East Valley Elementary School is Nevada State
Teacher of the Year and a finalist for the national teacher of the year. Biden will be holding a reception for LeBlanc and other state winners Monday at the vice president's house at the U.S. Naval Observatory.
Obama will be honoring the national winner on Tuesday. That person is chosen by a national committee organized by the Council of Chief State School Officers.
