Obama Remembers Kansas Shooting Victims

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is remembering those killed at a Jewish community center and retirement complex, saying no one should have to worry about their security while gathering with their fellow believers.

Obama is speaking at an Easter prayer breakfast at the White House. He says the fact that Sunday's attack in Kansas came as Jews prepare to celebrate Passover and Christians prepare for Easter makes the tragedy "all the more painful."

The man accused of killing three people Sunday is a well-known white supremacist and former Ku Klux Klan leader who was once the subject of a nationwide manhunt.

The president also recalled his meeting at the Vatican last month with Pope Francis. He says the pope has inspired people around the world with his "simple, yet profound" actions.
