SPARKS, NV - The JA Nugget freeway sign visible along I-80 will be getting a facelift as part of the $50 million renovation being done by the Nugget's new owners.
JA Nugget hired Las Vegas-based Nordquist Sign Company to handle the state-of-the-art renovation that will include installing two energy-saving, high-definition LED screens. The new screens will be 45 feet wide by 25 feet tall.
"Renovating the sign is an indicator to tourists and the community that the Nugget is changing and improving what we're offering our guests," said Nugget President and CEO Carlton Geer.
Nugget officials say the sign is visible to more than 106,000 cars passing over the Nugget's roof each day as they travel on I-80.
"We want to tell people in a very visible way that we're changing," said Geer. "This is the best way to do it. We encourage people to come experience the new Nugget and see the changes."
Nordquist expects to complete the renovation before the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off begins August 27, 2014.
