Northern Nevada Veterans' Resource Center Celebrates Grand Opening

RENO, Nev. -- There is a new resource for veterans facing homelessness in our community.

The Northern Nevada Veterans' Resource Center opened its doors on Plumb Lane in October. Since then the agency has helped almost 140 families who are homeless or in danger of losing their homes.

Senator Dean Heller gave the keynote address at the grand opening celebration Friday afternoon.

The resource center works closely with the VA to provide housing and all kinds of resources to those who served.

Site Director Kyle Scott says, "We operate on a ‘no wrong door’ policy so if a veteran comes to see us with any problem, whether its housing or any issue that they have, at the very least we make sure to get them in touch with the right people to help out."

If you know any veterans in need of aid, the Resource Center encourages you to call them at (775) 284-VETS.
