Reno, NV - California's refinery problems are affecting how much drivers in Northern Nevada are paying for gas.

Prices in the Reno-Sparks area have jumped in the past few days. Cynthia Harris, a spokesperson for AAA, says the average cost for a gallon of regular unleaded in Reno is $4.09. That's a lot more than people in Las Vegas are paying, where gas is $3.73. The national average prices is $3.79.

Harris says that refinery fire in Richmond, California back in August caused complications that are still being dealt with. Also, a refinery in Torrance, California got temporarily shut down because of mechanical issues. All that has led to less supply and it boosts our prices in Northern Nevada since we get our gas from California.
