SPANISH SPRINGS, NV - A senior living to facility is taking precautions after people began showing symptoms that may indicate the norovirus.

Cascades of the Sierra Executive Director Dave Schneck said the facility is in contact with health officials, is cleaning surfaces and taking other measures to keep the 190 people who live there healthy.

"We're still feeding them hot foods and healthy meals but we're doing it room service-style rather than our restaurants," he said. Scheneck added the presence of the norovirus has not been confirmed by tests.

The norovirus is known for sickening people on several cruise ships. It's not airborne but spreads very fast. A wedding party was thought to have brought the norovirus into a local casino.

According to public health officials, the virus spreads by eating contaminated food, touching surfaces with the virus, and direct contact with someone who is sick.
