No Injuries in I-80 Truck Fire

SPARKS, NV - No one was hurt in a truck fire on Interstate 80 east of the Vista exit.

Shortly before 9AM Thursday, the driver of a Q&D Construction truck heard a pop in the engine and pulled over while headed east. The engine caught fire and she used her extinguisher, which didn't get the fire out, so she called 911. Fire crews from Sparks and Storey County had it out in minutes, according to a KOLO 8 photographer on scene.

Investigators say it looks like there was a problem with a rod that punctured the engine block, leaking fluids and starting the fire. Crews closed one lane while cleaning up engine fluids from the road.
