SPARKS, NV - On a vote of 4-to-1, Sparks City Council members approved the appointment of Steve Driscoll to the city manager post.
Driscoll has been with the city of Sparks since 1994 and has been the assistant city manager since 2000.
Driscoll has worked with various city departments including the mayor's office, city council, parks and recreation, fire, and police.
“Steve Driscoll is a proven leader who has been a heartbeat away from the position of City Manager for more than a decade, and is well-equipped and suited to lead the City organization, and tackle the challenges that lie ahead,” said Sparks Mayor Geno R. Martini.
Also at today's Sparks City Council Meeting, members directed staff to draw up amendments to the city ordinances to allow for the licensing of medical marijuana establishments to operate in the rail city.
This is the first move to needed to get medical marijuana businesses up and running in Sparks.
