CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Nevada's unemployment rate rose slightly in November, to 14.3 percent.
A state official calls that a sign that the worst of the recession is over and that Nevada's economy is stabilizing.
The Nevada state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation said Friday the increase came a month after the state jobless rate dropped to 14.2 percent in October. It peaked at a record 15 percent in September.
The unemployment rate in Las Vegas climbed two-tenths of a percent last month, to 14.3 percent.
State economist Bill Anderson calls the November figures an indication that the recession is easing.
But he says the unemployment rate is likely to remain high well into next year.
Nevada has led the nation in joblessness, bankruptcies and
foreclosures.
