GOVERNOR BRIAN SANDOVAL:

“I am pleased with today’s ruling by U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson in Florida. Since the beginning, I have noted my concerns that the federal health care legislation has serious constitutional questions which need to be answered by the courts.

“Time is of the essence in settling this issue because we are being forced to implement portions of this law.

“As Nevada is a party to this lawsuit, I look forward to its continuation.”

U.S. SENATOR JOHN ENSIGN (R-NV):

“This healthcare law was unconstitutional from the beginning. The individual mandate is an alarming overreach of federal power. I have been fighting against this provision for over a year and continue to do so in the Senate to ensure that we repeal it with haste.

“The United States Constitution is the last line of defense between the citizens of this country and a government that, at times, seeks to overpower their rights. While I am confident that once this case goes before the Supreme Court the individual mandate will be struck down, we should not have to wait for this to work its way through the court system when we have the power in Congress to repeal the mandate. The time has come to usher through a repeal and work together to craft healthcare reform that both increases access to care and decreases high healthcare costs.”

REPRESENTATIVE DEAN HELLER (R-NV):

“Forcing Americans to buy government approved health insurance was an unprecedented act by Congress. I have heard from businesses across Nevada about the stifling effects of this law and I remain deeply concerned about the impacts it will have on Nevada families. Ultimately, the U.S. Supreme Court will have the final say on the constitutionality of this bill. As I have stated before, the President should work with Congress to find real solutions to healthcare reform instead of allowing a protracted court battle.”

The Supreme Court will have the last word on the National Health Plan. If Supreme Court rules that it is unconstitutional, I believe that most Americans would like to see a plan that is constitutional and functional. What do congressman say to the unemployed, underemployed, and those that are employed but have no health benefits. What do they say to Americans who cannot afford the health insurance premiums: roll over and die?
