CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - On the second day of the 2013 Nevada Legislature, committees from both houses are scheduled to begin scrutinizing proposed budgets addressing a breadth of topics.
The Senate Finance Committee is scheduled to examine budgets from the Nuclear Projects Office budget, the Commission on Ethics and the State Gaming Control Board. The Nuclear Projects Office has been the lead agency in the ongoing fight against the proposed Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository in southern Nevada.
Meanwhile, the Assembly Ways and Means Committee will put Gov. Brian Sandoval's budget for his office under the microscope. The committee will also evaluate the budget for the lieutenant governor's office.
