Governor Sandoval Lowers Flags for 9/11

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Flags are being flown at half-staff around Nevada in remembrance of the families and victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Gov. Brian Sandoval signed a proclamation ordering flags lowered Tuesday at all state buildings, from sunup to sundown.

Nearly 3,000 people died when two hijacked commercial jetliners slammed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Another plane hit the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and a third was brought down in a Pennsylvania field.

President Obama has declared Sept. 11 as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance.
