This year's NYC marathon was canceled because of superstorm Sandy. But some folks decided to run the marathon route anyway. Some of the racers also spent the day delivering supplies to residents impacted by the storm.
A week after superstorm Sandy hit the United States the signs of damage are still very clear. You can see all the debris still scattered along New York's Rockaway Beach. Parts of the area are practical junk yards with debris piled higher than cars in the street. New York's mayor says up to forty thousand people may need shelter as temperatures drop near 30°.
