Reno police have released the name of a woman killed at a downtown motel, and they have charged her alleged killer with open murder.

RENO. NV - Reno police have released the name of a woman killed at a downtown motel, and they have charged her alleged killer with open murder.

June 15, 2014, shortly after noon, police were called to a domestic disturbance at the Lucky Motel at 1011 East 4th Street. They were met by 61-year-old Zollie Dumas, who said he had killed 59-year-old Carolyn Jo Smith.

She was found stabbed to death. The two had been dating, according to Reno police.

He was originally booked on a parole violation, having recently been released from prison after being convicted of killing his fiance in Henderson in 1988. The open murder charge for the motel death was added over the course of the murder investigation.
