Motorcyclist Shot While Riding in Desert

FERNLEY, NV - A motorcyclist sustains minor injuries after being shot while riding his motorcycle.

Sgt. Grundy with the Lyon County Sheriff's Office says three motorcyclists were riding in the desert near Sarasota Flats when one of them was shot in the elbow.

Sgt. Grundy says the victim's injuries are not life-threatening.

Lyon County Sheriff's deputies made contacted with several people shooting at the flats, however it was not determined which direction the bullet came from.

Sarasota Flats is a common area for target practice and is approximately 600 to 800 yard wide, according to Sgt. Grundy.

He says the investigation is ongoing, however, the shooting does not appear to be malicious in any way.
