Name of Moped Operator Killed in Crash Released

RENO, NV - The Nevada Highway Patrol has released the name of a moped rider killed when he collided with a sport utility vehicle in Sun Valley.

The accident happened around 9:30PM Friday, July 4, 2014, when the rider entered Sun Valley Boulevard and was struck by a Ford Explorer.

58-year-old Jose Desantiago of Sun Valley died at the scene.

There were multiple people in the SUV, none of whom were hurt. The driver is cooperating with the investigation, according to the NHP, which says drugs don't appear to be a factor.

A preliminary investigation suggests Desantiago entered Sun Valley Boulevard without yielding to oncoming traffic.
