Driver pleads after fatal crash in northwest Reno

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The driver of a pickup has pleaded no contest to "Fail to Decrease Speed Or To Use Due Care" after a crash in which a moped driver died. Police originally thought it was a DUI case.

Police say May 20, 2014, 21-year-old Ericka Vera collided with a moped when the 24-year-old male moped rider ran the red light heading west on Mae Anne at McCarran.

Police say the driver of the moped was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

The name of the victim hasn't been released.
