RENO, NV- KOLO 8 News Now has obtained documents stating that Washoe County School Superintendent Pedro Martinez has sued the WCSD and the Washoe County School Board of Trustees.
Martinez's attorney, William Peterson filed a temporary restraining order and an injunction against WCSD for holding a meeting to determine the status of Martinez.
The suit suggests that Nevada's Open Meeting Law was violated. The suit also seeks damages for breach of his contract.
Martinez was relieved of his duties after a closed-door meeting on Tuesday. However, Wednesday WCSD Board of Trustees President Barbara Clark stated Martinez had been placed on paid leave.
The school board meets Tuesday and has placed the matter on the agenda as item 3.01.
