RENO, Nev. -- A man's body was found in the Truckee River late Saturday evening near Idlewild Park.
Reno Police officers say they were called by friends of the victim. The friends report they were floating down the river on inner tubes when they lost contact with their friend. He was last seen in the area of Oxbow Park.
When the friends couldn't find the man after searching themselves, they called the officials. After a search by Reno Police, Washoe County Sheriff's officers, and Reno Fire, the man's body was found in the area of Idlewild Park.
His name has not been released pending next of kin notification. Police say the death appears to be accidental drowning.
The Reno Police Department wants to remind the community of the dangers of strong currents and cold water temperatures. They encourage use of proper safety equipment and procedures.
