YERINGTON, NV - The grandson of a Silver Springs woman will be sentenced in June for a murder that took place in 2010.
A jury convicted James Christopher Masterson Wednesday of first-degree murder with an elder enhancement, robbery with an elder enhancement, grand larceny of a motor vehicle with an elder enhancement, grand larceny with an elder enhancement, fraudulent possession of a credit card, and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.
The jury found Masterson had murdered 72-year-old Peggy Herlacher in Silver Springs July 22, 2010, then robbed her of her possessions, stole her vehicle, and stole and used her credit cards. Her body was found in the backyard of a relative's home in California.
Sentencing is set for June 25, 2012.
