Man Survives Being Shot in Head; Suspect Arrested

FERNLEY, NV - The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that happened early Friday morning.

Lieutenant Smith with the Lyon County's Sheriff's Office says police responded to 584 Village Drive in Fernley around 2:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014.

When police arrived, a woman told them her boyfriend, Spencer Brown, 21, shot a man, according to Lieutenant Smith.

He says the victim, who is an acquaintance of the couple, was shot in their apartment during an argument.

It's reported that the victim left the area and that Brown barricaded himself in the couple's apartment, according to Lieutenant Smith.

He says, soon after, Brown surrendered to police without incident.

The victim was found later at a relative's house in Fernley, according to Lieutenant Smith. He says the bullet struck the victim on the head, leaving him with a cut.

The victim was transported by a relative to an emergency center in Reno with non-life-threatening injuries.

Brown is currently in custody in the Lyon County Jail.
