RENO, Nev. (AP) - A 44-year-old man who Reno police say is in the country illegally has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a fatal hit-and-run accident last summer.
Candido Aniceto-Trejo was sentenced Tuesday for his conviction in July's death of Eric Thomas of Reno.
Police say Thomas was riding his mo-ped in a bike lane when Aniceto-Trejo swerved out of his land and hit him. Thomas died from severe head injuries.
Aniceto-Trejo fled the scene but later was apprehended.
Washoe County prosecutors say he likely will be deported to Mexico when he completes his prison sentence.
