LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Nevada man was found not guilty on sex abuse charges two days after he tried to commit suicide by swallowing antifreeze during the midst of his trial.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that a jury in Pahrump, Nevada found 53-year-old Jackie Lee Argabright Jr. not guilty on Friday of five counts of sex assault on a child under 14.
On Wednesday, Argabright showed up to court incoherent and acting intoxicated. As he was being taken away in handcuffs on contempt of court, his organs shut down. He was airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital.
His attorney, Michael Becker, says Argabright is still at the hospital.
Becker says his client hasn't explained why he tried to kill himself although he said previously that he was devastated by the charges against him.
