RENO, Nev. (AP) - A 27-year-old Carson City man has been convicted of killing one man and wounding two others in a gang-related shooting near Aces Ballpark in downtown Reno in October 2011.
Washoe County Chief Deputy District Attorney Chris Hicks says Arturo Calderon Bolanos Jr. faces up to life in prison without parole at his sentencing April 21.
Hicks says Bolanos fired 12 shots from a laser-equipped assault rifle into an SUV at a parking garage south of the stadium, killing Macario Ortiz. He said Wednesday it was a "frightening" display of firepower after a gang-motivated fight at the adjacent Freight House District.
A jury found Bolanos guilty late Friday of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, three counts of attempted murder and two counts of battery with a deadly weapon.
