RENO, NV - A Washoe City man has been arrested in connection with the Lyon Drive fire last November that burned about ten acres.
75-year-old Joseph Clark was booked Wednesday on a charge of failing to guard or extinguish fire materials. Investigators believe he threw fireplace ashes onto a vacant lot near his home, and when wind kicked up, flames quickly spread. Dozens of homes were evacuated. One abandoned mobile home and an outbuilding were destroyed. No one was seriously hurt.
Improper disposal of ashes also led to the Washoe Drive Fire last January that burned 29 homes and burned thousands of acres.
Clark was arrested and released on $500 bail.
