CARSON CITY, NV - A Carson City man is in custody in Carson City after a bank robbery and chase Friday morning.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says about 8:30AM, 55-year-old Brent Muir walked into Plumas Bank in Kings Beach armed with a handgun and robbed the bank. No one was hurt.
Investigators say details so far indicate Muir left the bank in a tan 2008 Chevrolet Impala with cash, and drove to the Sand Harbor area of Lake Tahoe, where he was seen by federal law enforcement, which asked the NHP for help stopping him.
As troopers were preparing to find the car to make a traffic stop, deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Carson City Sheriff’s Office saw the car and tried to stop Muir, who led them on a chase, according to troopers. They say Muir led deputies on a short pursuit through parts of south Carson City, when he finally stopped at the corner of California Street and Industrial Park Drive just south of Fairview Drove, where he got out and ran.
After a short foot pursuit by deputies, he was caught and detained by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The NHP took custody and placed him under arrest for Felony Eluding, Reckless Driving, and Driving with no valid driver's license. Deputies say they found a weapon and cash in the car. He is in custody in the Carson City Jail until he can be moved to California.
Charges stemming from the robbery are pending further investigation from the Federal Bureau of Investigations and Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
