Lyon County Makes Arrests in Drug Cases

YERINGTON, NV - The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division is investigating cases involving methamphetamine and marijuana, and has made two arrests, with more expected.

An investigation into the trafficking of methamphetamine into the city of Yerington resulted in the arrest of Mathew Sullivan of Yerington. Detectives say Sullivan possessed 13.1 gg of methamphetamine in his trailer and 1 gram of methamphetamine that he was delivering to a known drug user on Center Street in Yerington. Sullivan is also on parole, out of the Nevada prison system.

Sullivan is charged with Level II trafficking of methamphetamine
and a Parole and Probation hold.

In a separate case, a search of Yerington High School using narcotic detecting dogs from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Mineral County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the recovery of 1.1 ounces of marijuana. One juvenile was arrested for sales of a controlled substance; another was issued a citation.

In another case, a two-month investigation into the sales of marijuana in Yerington and the Mason Valley area concluded with a search warrant being executed at 22 Basque Lane in Yerington. The search of the residence netted 46 ounces of marijuana, a marijuana plant and two firearms, according to detectives. Suspects Shawn Curl and Johnna Curl were not arrested, but will likely face charges for the following crimes:
Shawn Curl/Ex-Felon in possession of a firearm and Possession of a controlled substance for sales.
