RENO, Nev. (AP) - For the first time in its 10-year history, a pizza place has walked away with the championship trophy at the Great International Chicken Wing Society Cook-Off in Reno.

Pie Face Pizza Co., which just opened in Reno a year ago, took first place in the judging in the downtown casino district as the four-day festival wrapped up on Monday.

The Reno-based Pizza Plus finished second. The Las Vegas-based
Havin' an Affair claimed third after winning the last five titles in a row.

Society President Willie "the Chicken Wing King" Davison says Pie Face Pizza pulled off one of the biggest upsets in cook-off history. But he says most pizza parlors also sell chicken wings these days and that Pie Face Pizza's are deserving of the victory.

I had these wings, the "extra hot" they were amazing, and the raw garlic pieces and green onions were a nice touch. good job pie face!!!!!

Now i know where to go to get me some chicken wings...there was wingstop. Pizza plus. Little ceasar. Pizza hut n some other places in beetwen...

I tried these guys wings on Friday night. They must have changed the recipe to win this thing 'cuz I actually had to throw the wings away that I bought from them. I mean , really, RAW GARLIC pieces on the wings??? Absolutely TERRIBLE! I don't know how they could have won with what they served friday night.
