RENO, Nev. (AP) — Sheila Leslie, a former state senator who left a safe Democratic district to take on a Republican colleague, says she's putting elected office behind her, at least for now.
Leslie tells the Reno Gazette-Journal (http://on.rgj.com/VgjKxv ) she has no intention of running for another public office.
A veteran lawmaker who served 12 years in the Nevada Assembly before being elected to the Senate in 2010, Leslie resigned her seat earlier this year when she moved out of her district to a smaller home.
She then filed to challenge Republican Sen. Greg Brower.
Leslie lost the Reno's District 15 state senate race by 266 votes in November.
But she'll still voice her opinions on Nevada policy. Leslie debuts this week as a columnist for the Reno News & Review.
