RENO, Nev. (AP) - The state board of regents has unanimously approved former Utah athletic official Doug Knuth as the new athletic director at the University of Nevada.
The regents endorsed school president Marc Johnson's recommendation late Thursday on a 13-0 vote.
The 40-year-old Knuth has been working as the associate athletic director. He will succeed Cary Groth, who is retiring, He's expected to start on April 20.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (http://tinyurl.com/a7cpsrq ) his three-year contracts calls for a base annual pay of $285,000, plus bonuses for academic achievement and attendance benchmarks.
