RENO, Nev. -- Former Wolf Pack quarterback Colin Kaepernick scored San Francisco's first touchdown against the Jets in New York Sunday. The 'Niners backup quarterback took the direct snap in a wildcat-style option and ran seven yards around the left end for the TD. David Akers' point after was good.

Those first seven points came early in the second quarter and it was a blowout from there with the 49ers running for more than 200 yards in the 34-0 rout.

The 49ers' Carlos Rogers returned a fumble 51 yards for a touchdown, and Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter also ran for scores.

Meanwhile, the Jets (2-2) couldn't get anything going on offense and lost top wide receiver Santonio Holmes to what it appeared to be a serious foot injury. It was the first time New York was shut out since losing 9-0 to Green Bay in 2010, and the Jets' biggest shutout at home since falling 37-0 to Buffalo in 1989.

Now 3 and1, 49ers' win shows they can bounce back from a loss. Last week they fell 24-13 at Minnesota. Rather than head back to the West Coast, coach Jim Harbaugh chose to have his team stay in eastern Ohio - and it apparently helped.
