Jackson's Doctor Released from Jail After 2 Years

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The former doctor convicted of providing the anesthetic drug overdose that resulted in Michael Jackson's death is out of jail after serving about half his four-year sentence.

Conrad Murray was released from a downtown Los Angeles jail just after midnight, local time. A change in California law allowed his jail time to be significantly cut down. He still is actively appealing his conviction.

The pop superstar died after receiving a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol, which Murray was giving Jackson as a sleep aid.

Murray's medical licenses remain suspended or revoked in three states where he previously practiced medicine.
