Investigation Continues After Snowboarder Dies

MINDEN, NV - The investigation continues after an injured snowboarder died from his injuries at Heavenly Ski Resort.

Sergeant Pat Brooks with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office says on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 11:45 p.m., the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the Tahoe Douglas Paramedics responded to Heavenly Ski Resort, Boulder Lodge for an injured snowboarder.

Brooks says upon arrival, paramedics began advanced life support on the 18-year-old victim, Wyatt James Colvard from Fountain Valley, CA.

Witnesses say they found an unconscious Colvard lying in the snow having difficulties breathing, according to Brooks. Ski patrol arrived and transported Colvard down the hill to paramedics, where he later died from his injuries.

Brooks says an autopsy was completed and showed Colvard died due to internal injuries from blunt force trauma.
