SPARKS, Nev. - About a hundred runners - some decked out in their Sunday best - braved a steady drizzle to take part in the inaugural Rabbit Run sponsored by the Rotary Club of Sparks.
"We didn't get quite as big of a turnout as we thought but we're happy to have some stalwart runners here to get this going," Rotarian Ed Lawson said.
The 10k run kicked off at 7:30 Easter morning at Scheels. Proceeds will go to several charities sponsored by the club.
"We give a lot of money away to the community," Lawson said. "It's a way to raise money and it's a family event that we're modeling after the Turkey Trot so you can get a little exercise in and then go have a great meal with your family."
The club plans to make the run an annual event.
