RENO, NV - Just after 5:00 PM Sunday, a red Ford Explorer heading south on I-580 lost control. It started when the tread separated from the left rear tire, flying through the air and hitting the windshield of another car.
The driver of that car was uninjured. The damage to the tire caused the SUV to veer off the road and tumble down the embankment near Moana Lane. The man and woman in the car were belted in and suffered only minor injuries.
They, along with a 2-year-old who was secured in a child seat, were taken to Renown. Police say everyone is expected to be fine. Traffic is open in the area.
