STATELINE, NV -- Whether you like hot-rods, mint condition Chevys, or custom paint jobs, there will be a little bit of something for everyone at Hot August Nights. The weeklong classic car show kicked off Saturday at the Montbleu Casino in Stateline.
For the 27th year in a row, car enthusiasts will flock to northern Nevada this week for an event that some just can't miss.
"It's truly a nostalgia festival, and it goes back to the 50s, 60s, and 70s. If you like hot rods and you like cool cars, you don't have to be a full-blown car guy to come one and love these cars and look around," said Tony Marini, Executive Director of Hot August Nights.
Original owners, amature mechanics and car collectors gather for a shared enthusiasm for how things used to be.
"The old cars is where it's at. Classic design, beautiful, loud, just amazing," said Brandon Pruett, a first-timer at Hot August Nights.
"It's just looking at everybody's different likes and dislikes, and everybody loves cars. It's a nostalgia and everybody is friendly," said Greg Loring of Sparks, who has been coming to Hot August Nights for more than 20 years.
You'll see countless cars around the Hot August Nights events this week, but what's really neat is so many of them have customizations. They are almost all unique.
But it goes beyond just vehicles. Hot August Nights also celebrates music, dress, and traditions of another generation.
"It has a different piece for everybody. Yes, at the end of the day the cars are the stars, but we also have to make sure we have all the other pieces to make sure that it is a great event," said Marini.
But at the end of the day, rest assured, each car owner will tell you his or her car is the best part of the entire event.
The event wraps up Sunday, August 11th.
