GOLDFIELD, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol says a bomb squad detonated a backpack found in a vehicle stopped in a road rage incident on U.S. 95 near the historic Esmeralda County Courthouse.

NHP Trooper Dave Gibson says no injuries are reported in the day-long incident Tuesday in Goldfield, about 185 miles northwest of Las Vegas.

Gibson says two people were arrested about 6:40 a.m. Tuesday by troopers and sheriff's deputies from Nye and Esmeralda counties investigating report of a road rage incident and possible shooting.

A bomb squad was summoned after investigators found what they believed to be explosives in the car.

U.S. 95 was closed and Esmeralda County sheriff's Sgt. Dill Ferguson tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal that a nearby elementary school, homes and businesses were evacuated during the investigation.
