RENO, Nev. -- An inmate at the High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs died in his cell on Friday.
The Nevada Department of Corrections reports inmate John Biasi was found at about 4pm deceased in his single cell. Officials notified next of kin and launched an investigation.
Biasi was 55 years old and serving a ten- to 25-year sentence for Second Degree Murder. He also had a five- to 15-year sentence for Use of a Deadly Weapon to be served consecutively. Both convictions were out of Clark County. He had been with the Department of Corrections for only a year.
A Department of Corrections representative says the matter is under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
