RENO, NV - A group of volunteers visited residential motels in downtown Reno Friday to commit what they called random acts of kindness. The organizer, Mindy Steadman, was once a struggling young mother who was unaware of services that were available to her. Now her non-profit organization Blessed Positivity is helping others experiencing the same thing.
She works with motel property managers to identify units that have small children. Then volunteers go door-to-door offering the items to those who will take them. Mindy was volunteering at the Gospel Mission with her children last year when they were first inspired to help kids. "My daughter actually, who's eleven, noticed that the kids there didn't have toys or clothing, so she was going to save up her money to buy them clothing and toys," explains Steadman. Taking her daughter Maryssa's idea one step further, Mindy created Blessed Positivity, dedicated to collecting toys and clothes for kids in need.
