YERINGTON, NV - Only a handful of northern Nevada customers are still without power, according to NV Energy.
The utility says most of the power has been restored in the Carson Valley, Minden/Gardnerville and Yerington areas. About five customers are still without in Douglas County, with a handful still without power in Yerington. At one point Thursday, about 3000 customers were without power in the region.
NV Energy says the outages happened due to the heavy snowfall. Throughout Thursday, snow built up on power lines. The snow sent out a vibration when it fell off the lines. This sometimes blows a fuse, causing an outage.
There is no ETA on when the remaining outages will be restored; crews are still working to fix the lines
