BRIDGEPORT, CA - A head-on traffic traffic collision on US-395, south of Bridgeport, leaves a woman dead.
California Highway Patrol officials say the collision happened on Tuesday, January 14, 2014.
Around 12:20 p.m., CHP officers found a Subaru wagon and a GMC van blocking the southbound lane of US-395.
Officials say they found the driver of the Subaru dead on scene.
The driver of the GMC was transported to Bridgeport by Mono County Paramedics before being transferred via Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical Center, according to the official.
Officials say the preliminary investigation indicates the Subraru crossed the center line of the roadway into the southbound lane, hitting the van. Officials say the exact sequence of events and the cause of the collision remain under investigation by the CHP.
The deceased has been identified as Suzanne Stokes. Officials say the Mono-County Sheriff-Coroner Department are determining the cause of her death.
