STATELINE, NV-- A historic Stateline casino is set to be transformed. Owners of the Horizon Hotel and Casino announced it will be turned into the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel Lake Tahoe.
It will join Harrah's, Harvey's, and Montbleu along Highway 50 in Stateline.
"The horizon hotel really has not been renovated in god knows how long," said Don Marrandino, COO of the new Hard Rock Casino and Hotel Lake Tahoe.
The resort is set to open on December 15th, but there is a lot of work to do before that happens. The owners are set to be pour 55-million dollars in renovations into the old building. The Horizon has not been updated since 1983.
"We've got everything teed up, financing is in order and we are ready to hit the road running here next week," said David Park, Owner of the property.
"There will be four diamond quality rooms, all 530 of them, terrific restaurants that we will talk about, hard rock entertainment that we are known for around the world," said Marrandino.
The idea's been tried before. There's a Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas and a few other places. All considered relatively successful.
"It's just gonna be a great happenin' energy place," said Park.
"so I think we will bring people from far away to come here," said Marrandino.
This Hard Rock is coming with some extra perks. It's being marketed for its close proximity to Heavenly.
"We target millennial and young Gen-Xers so aligning with Hard Rock is a perfect brand alignment for us," said John Wagnon, Vail Resorts Director of Marketing.
