Traditional Halloween door-to-door trick-or-treating is Monday, Oct. 31, but you don't have to wait until then to start the candy-collecting!
Here is a list of local Halloween events for families and adults! We update the list frequently so keep checking!

Charity Haunted House in Carson City: "The Unforgiven"... 120 Broadleaf Lane. Admission is one can of canned food and/or an item of warm winter clothing per person to be turned around to the community. Hours: Friday/Saturday: 7-10pm. Sunday/Monday: 7-9pm.

The 2011 SlaughterHouse at Meadowood Mall: This year our over 8000 square foot Haunt undergoes a full redesign from previous years as we set out to entertain thousands of eager customers with new, never seen before rooms, custom scares, and terrifying scenes that will have our guests running for the door. The Slaughterhouse Haunt also offers a brand-new deal this year: a kid-friendly show that’s frightfully appropriate for younger ghouls and goblins! Dates & Hours of Operation: October 20th - 23rd October 27th -31st Thursdays – Saturdays: 7 p.m. -11 p.m. Sundays: 1 p.m. –3 p.m. (Kid-Friendly Show) 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. General Admission is $12. Bring a donation of canned food and receive $2 off Food benefits the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
*On Sunday afternoons our kid friendly show has special pricing just $6 half price, so bring the whole family. For the easiest access use the mall entrance across from the City Fare Transfer Station.

The return of Frightmare! The largest haunted attraction in Northern Nevada! Frightmare has approximately 40 performers who wear professional make-up and costumes. Frightmare is located at the Legends shopping center in front of Scheels and is open Thursdays through Sundays in October and also on Monday the 31st for Halloween. Gates open at 7 PM. Food is available on-site as well with Little Caesars Pizza, Baskin Robins Ice Cream and Chocolates from Sierra Nevada Chocolates. Legends Trick or Treat Safe Zone: Halloween Night
Shop for your sweet tooth! The Outlets at Legends is hosting a safe zone for kids to trick or treat in this year. Please see attached press release for more details. 5-7 p.m. Free Safe candy for Trick or Treating
Free face painting and bounce houses for kids.

Annual Carson Valley Harvest Festival - Lots of family activities, including a 2 acre corn maze. At the Corley ranch, 859 Hwy. 395 in Gardnerville. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Halloween activities for children at the Washoe County Library in Reno and throughout Washoe County are fun, safe, and free. Select library branches have having Halloween events suitable for every age group, including pumpkin carving, costume contests, games, parades, and trick-or-treating. Halloween Ghost Walking Tours of Virginia City
October 28 through 31 - Bats in the Belfrey hosts these tours through the haunted streets and buildings of old Virginia City. If the tour isn't scary enough, you can sign up for a late night paranormal investigation session. Tours begin at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets for the tour only are $30 and it's recommended you get them online in advance. For more information, call (775) 815-1050.

Scare up Some Fun Halloween Weekend at the Eldorado!
Five Themed Venues and $6,000 Cash Prizes Friday and Saturday Nights: The Eldorado’s Freakin’ Weekend is the spot to be the Friday and Saturday before All Hallows Eve! Decked out guests will vie to win $6,000 in cash on Friday and Saturday, October 28 and 29 from two of the five haunted hotspots. Trick or Treat Street at Circus Circus
Friday, October 28 - Admission is free to this family-friendly event at Circus Circus in downtown Reno. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., come enjoy free candy, treats, drawings, child ID, and games. Non-perishable food items will be accepted to benefit the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

Atlantis’ Frighteningly Fun Costume Contest! Come dressed in your best Halloween digs for our FREE Costume Contest Saturday, October 29th – Monday, October 31st and you could win your share of $1,000 in Cash & Prizes! This year’s costume themes include: Most Original, Funniest, Best Casino Theme, Scariest, Best Couple
and Best Overall. Visit Club Paradise between Noon and 8pm to be judged. You must be present and in costume to enter the costume contest. Sorry, no masks or full-face make-up allowed. Must be 21.

John Ascuaga’s Nugget and KBUL Radio Present Halloween Hoedown: Saddle up and get on down to John Ascuaga’s Nugget for Halloween Hoedown Saturday, October 29. This free party will cast a spell on the Casino Cabaret from 9 p.m. to midnight. Guests will enjoy live hoedown music from Rick Hays & American Steel; $1,000 costume contest (1st - $500., 2nd - $300., 3rd - $200); KBUL 98 FM live radio remote; and a special guest appearance by Zomboo and Miss Transylvania. Safe Trick-or-Treat at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada
Saturday, October 29 - There will be cookie decorating, face painting & crafts. Come in costume. Adults are free and children are $3. The fun is from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Museum is located at 813 N. Carson Street in Carson City. For more infornmation, call (775) 884-2226.

Downtown Reno's Riverwalk! Fun for all Ages: Free family games, entertainment, live music, a doggie costume contest (6:30 pm on Saturday, Oct. 29th) and the following Pup-Crawl at 7 pm will support the SPCA of Northern Nevada. and more at the West Street Plaza Halloween weekend. Bounce houses for kids, face painters, food stands, and plenty of family fun. Register for the pet costume contest at the SPCA booth in the West Street Plaza: $10 entry fee per dog. hands/ON! Sunday Family Program - Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) Sunday, October 30 - Presented by the Nevada Museum of Art, 160 W. Liberty Street in downtown Reno. One hour sessions beginning at noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. Everyone in the family will enjoy this free, fun program featuring hands-on art projects and gallery activities for all ages. Admission is limited to 60 participants each hour.

Trunk or Treat event for families in South Reno: The event will be held Sun., Oct. 30 from 3:30pm-5:30pm. The parking lot at Reno Christian Fellowship will be lined with decorated themed car trunks. Haunted Halloween Train on the Virginia & Truckee Railroad
Monday, October 31 - It's dark and haunted on the Halloween Train. This evening train ride is sure to provide thrills for the whole family. Trains depart at 4, 6, 7, and 8 p.m. from the Virginia & Truckee Railroad, F Street Depot, Virginia City. Tickets are $12 for ages 13 and up, $6 ages 12 and under. Trick-or-Treat in the Streets of the National Automobile Museum
Monday, October 31 - This Halloween event will be at Reno's National Automobile Museum from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Kids can stay warm and dry while trick-or-treating for candy along the Museum's streets and parents can enjoy the extraordinary collection of cars. Monday, October 31 - Bring the kids from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for trick-or-treating throughout the Legends at Sparks Marina. Wear your costumes (no masks please) and get lots of candy, along with free bounce houses and face painting.

Trunk or Treat with the City of Reno
Monday, October 31 - At the City of Reno's free Trunk or Treat event, children can celebrate from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in a fun and safe environment. Come dressed in costume and travel from trunk to trunk and get all the candy your bags can handle. Each car trunk will be decorated and have a game for kids to play.
