CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - A nonprofit consumer group estimates 242,000 Nevadans will be eligible for a federal subsidy to obtain health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

Families USA on Friday said another 266,000 Nevadans will qualify for Medicaid when the federal health care reform law takes effect Jan. 1. That's when everyone is required to have health insurance.

Nevada's health insurance exchange, called Nevada Health Link, begins taking enrollments on Oct. 1.

The cost of monthly premiums will vary depending on where someone lives, their age and annual income.

Nevadans can begin comparing plans and rates on Division of Insurance website, www.doi.nv.gov .
