SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - The cowboy-themed Gilley's Saloon, Dance Hall and BBQ is coming to northern Nevada for the first time.
Officials for John Ascuaga's Nugget announced Tuesday the restaurant and nightclub with its famous mechanical bull will open in the Sparks casino resort this spring.
Carlton Geer, the new Nugget's new president and CEO, says Gilley's will take over 10,000-plus square feet in space just off the main casino floor formerly occupied by Trader Dick's.
Gilley's has clubs in Texas, Oklahoma and Las Vegas. It became popular after it was featured in the 1980 movie "Urban Cowboy" starring John Travolta.
Geer says the mechanical bull will have adjustable speeds to accommodate even the meekest tenderfoots. He says it will be a casual but exciting experience for fun-loving adults of every generation.
